High Point - Thomasville Chapter
Administration and Financial Information
Annual Report: Published annually, this report details our service
delivery and financial information for the previous fiscal year.
2007
Annual Report
Budgeting: The High Point-Thomasville Chapter has an annual budget
for FY08 of $683,726 Revenue and $729,237 of Expenses. The chapter is
budgeting for a deficit that includes additional staff and a new Depreciation
Line Item of $50,000. The United Way of High Point ($197,651) and the
United Way of Davidson County ($46,457) provides 40% of the budgeted annual
income.
Finance: The Finance Committee of the Board of Directors, along
with the Executive Director, is responsible for developing the budget and
monitoring the chapter's adherence to the budget.
Donations: The High Point-Thomasville Chapter is not funded by any
government agency. Although the American Red Cross was created by a
Congressional Charter, the Red Cross is not a government agency. Our
services are made possible by the voluntary contributions of the American
people. We honor the designations of our donors through the Red Cross
Donor D.I.R.E.C.T. policies. (Donor, Intent, Recognition,
Confirmation, Trust). You can make a secure online donation
through the RedCross.org
donation portal.
In-Kind Gifts: In a disaster, the best way to help is to make a monetary
donation to the Disaster Relief Fund. Donating used clothing, food,
furniture, or other such items, is an inefficient way of helping.
Generally, the cost of collecting, sorting, cleaning, transporting, resorting
and distributing donated items cost more than purchasing new items at the scene
of the disaster. Our relief efforts are geared to provide equal and fair
assistance to all victims. Donated items are impossible to distribute
equitably. Other disaster response agencies are better suited to take your
donated items.
For chapter operations, donations of In-Kind Gifts help
in many ways. Donated furniture and merchandise from the Furniture Market
fuels our auctions, raising money for the chapter. Donations from area
businesses for chapter supplies and equipment help keep costs down, allowing us to provide more services to our
clients.
Annual Independent Audit: The High Point-Thomasville Chapter financial
transactions and systems are audited annual by the independent auditing firm of
Fulp and Associates. A copy of the current annual audit can be viewed at the
chapter offices, Monday-Friday, from 8:30-5:00, by appointment only.
United Way support and the Annual Allocations Process
The High
Point-Thomasville Chapter is supported by two United Way organizations: the United Way of
Greater High
Point, and the United Way of Davidson County. The chapter staff participates in
both United Way campaigns, as donors ourselves and as Loaned
Executives and Speakers for United Way campaign rallies. To learn more about the
United Way, visit the websites for High
Point and Davidson County.
The United Way Allocation Process is designed to monitor participating agency
service delivery and fiscal responsibility. Each year, the High
Point-Thomasville Chapter is required to submit a new allocation request,
showing what was accomplished with last years' allocation, what is currently
being accomplished, and a plan for the next allocation and service delivery.
This process is designed to insure agency efficiency and community involvement
in the distribution of donated funds.
When the annual United Way campaign
visits your workplace, please support the United Way. We do. Here at
the High Point-Thomasville Chapter, our employees contribute to the United Way
through payroll deduction.
